As an old millennial, I’ve watched a lot of the trends from my higher college days come back into style. In current months, it is been all about low-rise jeans, thin brows and micro-minis. Eek! But I’m not 1 of these millennials who thinks these trends will need to keep far away. As an alternative, I’m all about the younger generation attempting them — most, I’ll just skip the second time about. In reality, I saw several of them coming. 1 I didn’t count on? Y2K’s zig-zag portion. TikToker Charli D’Amelio just single-handedly brought it back on the red carpet. What’s subsequent, a flip telephone?!
Tuesday evening was the Time Females of the Year Gala in Beverly Hills, CA. D’Amelio hit the red carpet with her mom, wearing a mini Prada yellow silk dress with a lengthy back sash and metallic sandals. She looked sophisticated but nonetheless fresh and cute thanks to Prada’s extra modern day take on its iconic logo. She matched her silver heels with a sparkly clutch.
As cute as her ‘fit is, what definitely stood out was the very Y2k hairstyle: the zig-zag portion! While it is not the only 2000s-style detail in her appear. She’s got the complete pony updo with the portion and the two pieces pulled out in the front. It is essentially my junior prom hairstyle come back to life. I have to admit, it appears a lot greater on her — almost certainly simply because a celebrity hairstylist produced the appear alternatively of…well, my mom.
D’Amelio’s makeup has some Y2K vibes, as well, even though in a a lot extra modern day way. Light metallic eyeshadow is poking out behind her complete lashes, matching the gold tones in her dress. Her lips are glossy and cool-toned, adding to the throwback vibe. Now, all she requirements is super-skinny brows and her early-aughts appear is full. (But please, Charli, do not do it.)
