'Kids learned more words during ­lockdown compared to before the pandemic'

In March 2020, as the lockdown was imposed, parents from 13 nations have been asked to fill in a ­questionnaire about their kid, then they have been contacted once more as lockdown ended.

Professor Nivedita Mani, of the University of Göttingen in Germany, says: “Many caregivers have been in the novel scenario of caring for and ­entertaining their young infants at residence all day with no recourse to other activities and in addition to their other responsibilities.

“Allowing your kid enhanced screen time is an understandable ­solution to an unprecedented scenario, in which caregivers have been juggling numerous responsibilities – meetings at operate or chores that need concentration, with each other with a modest kid who wants entertaining.

“We’ve all carried out it in the course of lockdown.”
